Funding & Schedule
Shalom friends! As of today, we are still waiting on Y’HUAH’s plan. Scripture says in Proverbs 16:9, “A person may plan his path, but Y’HUAH directs his steps.”
In other words, though we had planned on being in Kenya by the beginning of February, we are still here in Florida! In January, we prepared an informational dinner where we invited friends and neighbors to come and learn about our Kenya Adventure. We shared with those who came to the dinner about how, after a series of YAH events, we had been invited to partner with the In His Hands Ministry as missionaries to help establish the orphanage that is being built. We shared building plans. We shared testimonies. We had a prayerful “send off” and were blessed by donations from our friends. (see photo) Nevertheless, it appears the Lord is not ready to send us quite yet.
Thus far, we have about $4810 in donations. That’s not quite enough to purchase the tickets for us to get to Kenya. Even though ticket prices have dropped, and are around $1100 each, we need to purchase tickets for the Diana and I as well as the four children. Additionally, the entry permit (visa) for the long term visit is $425 each for Diana and I. Other expenses we have to purchase is:
Travel health insurance–$1000 for the family through AIG
Rental Housing (until the facility under construction is open) —$400-$500/ month
Food –$200/ month
After reading about George Müller, I hate even mentioning the needs to anyone but God, however, I was told that people who want to join in the work need to know what the needs are. After doing the math, I figure we needed at least $12000 to get to Kenya. This means we need about another $7000 to launch, as of today. Then, for monthly expenses another $12000 ($1000/month) to keep us fed and cover the schooling for the kids, and local family expenses. Then, another $5000 to get us jump started once we get home. In total, I calculated $29K but we will go when we have enough to get there, and trust God will supply the needs as they arise. How can we teach the kids how God provides if we wait to be fully funded?
Initially, I wanted to only commit to stay in Kenya until 2025 Feast of Tabernacles. With William and Garrison staying back, and our aging mothers and their health issues I do not want to be committed to a long term separation. We are wiling to stay as long as the Lord wants us there, but He has not told us how long. With the departure for Kenya being pushed out, it may not be practical to go for such a short time, so we will need to pray and discern the return date for our tickets, when we purchase them. A year would seem more practical. Please pray about this with us.
Our tree business has regained activity, and the cost of expensive repairs has been paid. PRAISE YAHUAH! We now have some tax and insurance expenses, which should be able to be paid in the next couple weeks. Our business debt, taken for equipment, remains, so it is likely we will sell the bucket truck to pay it off, and the boys will operate the business without the truck and the debt while we are gone. That seems to be the plan, and we are very grateful for the new and repeat customers who trust us with their business. Running a successful small business will be important as I look for entrepreneurial opportunities in Kenya for the orphans, and teach them how to find and operate business. We cannot allow them to be dependent on Western donors.
