James:
We drove out of Texas Monday night with a snowstorm on our heels! As we arrivied Tuesday morning in Crestview, Florida we had just in enough time to bring in more firewood, and buy last minute groceries. We finished our chores and shopping just as the snow began around Noon.
The construction in Kenya continues, and we get photos, such as this photo of the main dorm, currently called the Rescue Center. Without the previous missionaries, Alex and Amber, a return to a less cohesive construction team is being witnessed. The importance of the missionaries’ ministry to the Kenyan team has a value that is evidenced in the progress and quality of the construction work. When we arrive in Kenya, the team already knows me, and I will have opportunity to resume the ministry of lovingly setting the standard of excellence for the construction. Some are eager to rise to the standard, but others need much encouragement. Romans 16:19 “Be wise at what is good, be innocent of evil, and the God of peace will soon crush Satan underneath your feet.” We believe the orphanage project is good and should be constructed wisely.
Our tree business at home has slowed drastically, and we are grateful that a friend in Texas lined up a couple small jobs that let us get home and buy groceries. Our needs are met, but with little surplus. We are grateful, and I am getting to walk out the message that we will proclaim in Kenya: Trust God for your needs.
After reading the biography of George Müller, I am suspecting that the Lord will be bringing funds in as the needs are lifted to Him in prayer. The current need for us to get to Kenya is plane tickets, visas, medical insurance, immediate lodging, and food. The Lord has provided enough for about 2 plane tickets. Our urgent family personal needs are being met, but we cannot leave the two older sons behind with debt and broken equipment, so we need several thousand dollars to get things paid up. I expect this to come with a few good tree jobs, but we’ll see! We are also expecting to sell the bucket truck just before we leave, which we hope will eliminate the business debt we incurred buying equipment. After we leave, Garrison will operate a mobile mechanic business, and William will resume the tree business, and possibly go to fire school. That’s the thought, anyway….
