Shalom, my name is Diana. I’ve always considered myself more of a homebody. As James’ wife and the mother to 6 amazing young people, I’m usually wrapped up in the everyday rhythm of life. Although, I find great joy in these roles–my first love is Y’HUAH! Each day, my mission, upon waking, is to serve HIM with my whole heart, mind, soul, and strength—and I strive to love Him best as a devoted wife and mother.
If I asked you to describe me in 5 words or less; it is safe to say, the words “adventurous,” “free-spirited,” “fearless,” “bold,” or “daring” would not be among them! Adventure has NEVER been my thing. If you know me, you know I’m comfortable with daily routines, and keeping things steady for my family. Moreover, it’s difficult for me to think about “adventure” when I’m folding the third load of laundry, cleaning the sink of breakfast dishes, and/or homeschooling usually “unwilling participants.” Please know, I’m NOT complaining! Just sharing a bit of perspective from where I sit.
When I gave Y’HUAH my life, I gave Him authority to write my story, as He sees fit. What I have discovered is; He writes the greatest page-turning mysteries and thrillers, the sweetest heartfelt romances, the most hilarious comedies, and the best hair-raising, heart-pumping adventures ever! So, Y’HUAH, write my story. Write your story through me and my family!
I NEVER sought out adventure! Adventure found me!
Steve Camp, a Christian Music Artist, wrote in his song “Living Dangerously In the Hands of God”:
There's safety in complacency
But God is calling us out
Of our comfort zone into a life
Of complete surrender to the cross
To live dangerously
Is not to live recklessly but righteously
And it is because of God's radical grace for us
That we can risk living a life
Of radical obedience for Him
Even though I first heard this song when I was in middle school; this song remains one of my all-time favorites because it both challenges me and reminds me that obedience to Y’HUAH requires daily sacrifice. So, here we are, I and my family are preparing for a big change–we are embarking on a great adventure to Kenya, Africa, ready or not! When Y’HUAH prepares the way, He promises that He will equip those He calls! For example, Philippians 2:13 declares, “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and power to do what pleases Him.” Moreover, in the book of Hebrews chapter 13 verse 21 the author writes, “May God equip you with every good thing you need to do his will; and may he do in us whatever pleases Him, through Yeshua the Messiah. To Him be the glory forever, and ever. Amen.”
So, I, say “Here am I, send me!” I find myself preparing for a journey to Kenya—a place as foreign to me as the idea of stepping outside my comfort zone. Though apprehensive, I’m ready to embrace the unknown, hoping to discover a new side of myself along the way. I’m also excited to see where this journey might take us, and what Y’HUAH might teach me about Him, myself, and my family. HalleluYah!
